Project 25: 12 V Battery Pack.

Objective:

To build a 12 V Battery Pack with 43 Ahr capacity. Max. charge voltage is about 13.1 V, and recharge at 11.8 to 12.0 V.

Only hand tools were used to build this drawer. The materials were 1x4 pine board and 1/4 plywood, reuse existing hardware wherever possible.

  1. 6X ML7-12 - 12 Volt 7.2 AH SLA Battery. Cost $105 Pack of 6.
  2. Southwire 55667323 Primary Wire, 18-Gauge Bulk Spool, 100-Feet, Black. Cost $11.65 ea.
  3. Southwire 55667323 Primary Wire, 18-Gauge Bulk Spool, 100-Feet, Red. Cost $11.65 ea.
  4. HKS 150PCS Nylon Female Spade Quick Disconnect Connector - Blue 16-14 AWG Electrical Wire Connectors Kit, Cost $9.
  5. 1/4 in. Plywood. Cost $10 USD.
  6. Red and Black banana connectors. Cost $5 USD.

Total cost of all materials used $153 USD.

Procedure

1. Cut 1/4 plywood pieces.

2. Glue and nail box.

3. Add battery separators.

4. Install batteries.

5. Using racheting crimping install wires

6. Solder banana connectors.
