Product Detail 6: Canon PowerShot SX620 compact point-and-shoot camera.
2018-06-09
Objective:
This is a lower end point and shoot camera. It did not really excel at anything, except for close-ups and zoom.I purchased because I thought it was an upgrade to the earlier released Powershot S120 point and shoot. Mine performed exceptionally well for over five years but was getting aged and had a cracked screen. I tested after wife expressed concern regarding photo quality. After testing I found my 5+ year old S120 handily beat it. It did outperform the Samsung Galaxy S5. Beyond the picture quality there were funtion issues, for example the camera would hang for a few seconds while changing from camera to viewer mode. I have not noticed this on any other entry level model.
Called into tech support. Canon recording stated all customer support is based in the US. I discussed issue with the main line and was transferred to the tech support where I discussed issue with a Frontline employee named Monique. She said their was nothing they could do because there was nothing wrong with the camera. I could not take back to the store. At ten minutes into the call she transferred me to supervisor. Discussed the issue with Dane and he mentioned that there was nothing they could do for the exchange of the camera but as a gesture of goodwill he offered a 20% discount to the price of a Canon Powershot G9 X Mark II. I decided to purchase that for to use as my main point and shoot.
