Other information:
The original double check valve failed in February 2018. I replaced using a similar model.
In February 2021, after 3 years of operation the valve froze. It was wrapped and drained but the water left in the valve body expanded and bent the top plate. I replaced using a similar model.
2021-05-20: Ball Test Cocks are 1/4" Flare, SAE 45 degree.
End of December 2022, the valve inlet froze. It was not wrapped but it was completly drained but the pressurized waterat the inlet froze and cracked. I temporarily plugged until I can figure out a way to completely remove the valve each winter.
I had enough backflow preventer parts to fix, but I will need to purchase all new PVC fittings
Conclusion:
The valve should last much longer if it does not freeze. In future, wrape, drain and remove any standing water in the valve body.
Date 2021-05-25: The 45 Degree Flared Fittings I purchased did not fit either style Pin\Box on back flow preventer. A male 1/4" NPT fitting did seal on the box style and that is what I will use.
Date 2023-01-02: I plan to repair in spring with a system to complete decouple and remove the back flow preventer.
Date 2023-05-29: I fixed using a various 1" PVC couplers. At each end there is removable PVC connection. The solution is to remove the valve every winter.
